IPOP: First Peter Week 4

May 22nd, 2010

Hello world and friends/supports of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc.

I am writing this weeks IPOP (In Pursuit of Purpose) blog reflection from my bedroom in Ohio while listing to the Cincinnati Reds game.  It is the second of a three game series against our Ohio rivals the Cleveland Indians.

This week we covered the rest of chapter 2 and I think the first 16 verses of chapter 3.  The portion of this season that was the most memorable is when discussing 3:1-8.

In this section Peter gives instructions on how husbands and wives are to conduct themselves as spouses.  In the sections Peter tells wives how to conduct themselves to win their unbelieving husband to Christ.

Although it is addressed to wives, I believe that if a Christian husband has an unbelieving wife the same principles apply.

Someone also gave the comment that if a wife conducts herself the way Peter admonishes and her and her husband are both believers the same results are reached.  To this point, I would completely agree.

One humorous thing happened when a gentleman made the observation that seven verses were devoted to wives while only one was devoted to husbands.  I responded by saying that all though this is true, when one observers the verse devoted to husband phrase by phrase, the husband is still given a lot of responsibility.  Then I said I was going to leave what he said right there and move right along.  How funny it was.  For those of you that were there you know who it was and how funny he was and how funny he can repeatedly be.

I have only one more week of IPOP and have to finish chapter 3 and complete chapters 4 and 5.  I wonder if I am going to finish.  During the last week of Romans II, I missed finishing the text by five verses.  When I write the next entry finishing First Peter, I will let you know.  For those of you in this season what are your thoughts and reflections?

Until next Time…

IPOP: First Peter week 3

May 18th, 2010

Good morning world and friends of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc.

Last weeks IPOP was another wonderful season.  I seemed to fly through a lot of material.  We covered the end of chapter 1 and most of chapter 2.  The major comment/reflection concerning the season came from Bishop Gary.  He felt that Peter was trying to convey who we are in Christ. He is right on.

On Sunday night May 16 I purchased my tickets for my upcoming trip to Mexico.  Thanks so much for your prayers during this upcoming 3 ½ week ministry trip.

I also want to say thank you to all the financial supporters of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc. that make this ministry possible

IPOP: First Peter Week 1

Apr 28th, 2010

Hello friends and supporters of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc.  Today’s entry comes from “the gathering place” at Victory Christian church.  I am here to conduct week two of IPOP focusing on First Peter.

Last week’s anointing and discussion was incredible.  Here are a few brief highlights.  First, the overall focus was on the family topology Peter presents.  Second we looked at what I consider to be Peter’s doctrinal creed with Chapter one.  Third we looked at the issue of God’s foreknowledge and the resulting implications.  I want compliment the lady who asked me a private question after class about God’s foreknowledge.  She commented that she does not struggle with the issue because she sees God transcending our space-time continuum and the free-will we posses working within the limits of a space time continuum thus never resulting in a contradiction.  She is spot on.

I believe it was the largest first week attendance for an IPOP (In Pursuit of Purpose) class since I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach them.  To that end, I note the fact that this session is my forth overall and the first of as I begin my second year serving and co-laboring with Victory Christian Church.

A special note of thanks to the early subscribers to this blog.

Any and all feedback is welcomed and very much appreciated.  You can subscribe by clicking on the register link at the bottom of the front page.  It is free and will allow you to be updated when a new post appears.

RENEW Munustries (Covington, Kentucky )

Apr 2nd, 2010

Hello friends and partners

On Tuesday March 23, 2010 I traveled to Covington, Kentucky and ministered with Steve Kempf and RENEW ministries.  Covington is right over the bridge from Cincinnati and this is/was truly intercity ministry.  On Tuesdays they prepare a small meal and a small Bible study on the sermon text used during the pervious Saturday’s service.  The people there were divided into two small groups.  The study and message was the parable of the sewer. There was an approximant total of ten people there.  They were very loving and meeting them was an interesting experience.

On Saturday March 27, 2010 I was blessed and asked to return preach that week’s message.  I ministered on Mark 2, the narrative of the paralytic getting healed.  We begin the service by having a gentleman play the guitar and sing songs from my childhood in which I was the only person other then the singer that knew the lyrics.  How funny is that!

On March 30, 2010, I returned to RENEW ministries once again and attended the Bible study on my Mark 2 message.  In my small group I meat some new people, prayed for someone specifically within the group, and enjoyed the conversation with the group regarding various places some had traveled or lived.

God has blessed me to minister in a variety of context and I believe that He will continue to do so.  Thank you for all the prayers and financial support that make my ministry possible.  Please do not hesitate to leave comments so I can know who my reading audance is.  Thanks to all of you that have told me you read the blog.

Until Next Time….

Heights Ohio Aglow Inexternational lighthouse

Mar 30th, 2010

Here I go again submitting an entry much latest then I should, but here the latest with Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc.

On Saturday March 13 I ministered at the Huber Heights, Ohio lighthouse of Aglow International(www.aglow.org). As my biography page notes it is the largest international, trans-denomination women’s organization in the world.

Here are some noteworthy highlights.  Although the crowd was small, l loved the fact that it was the most racially balanced crowd that I have ever ministered to.  The reason why I love this is because it is a little taste of what heaven will be like.  There will be no racism in heaven, so there should be no racism within the church on the earth and this lighthouse is evidence that this can happen.

I ministered on Joshua 1:1-9, Joshua’s call narrative.  I meat a wonderful lady who was interested in getting my book that was referenced in my biography that was in the flier that all of the individuals on the lighthouse’s mailing list had received.  I told her that there were only two copies, a personal copy of my own and a copy on file at the Squires Library on the campus of Lee University.  But I told her I was currently writing a book on disabilities and she said she was doing the same.  Her book deals with grieving and mine deals with a life long counseling methodology using my personal testimony.  I truly believe we will do some cross marketing in the future.   God is faithful to give you what you need when you need it.  He always has and He always will.  Thank you JESUS!

The alter service was not as long as other aglow alter services as I have held in my ministry with them of the years, but God did what He did and I am so grateful for the opportunity to minister and look forward to being with them in the future.

Thank you Huber Heights, Ohio lighthouse for such a generous Honorarium

Until Next Time…

Romans II: Week 8 (15:4 – 16:27)

Mar 11th, 2010

Good evening Victory Christian Church family and supporters of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc.

A personal note:  this entry is coming from the bedroom of my wonderful nephew Nathan’s bedroom that I have been using as my own while staying with my sister & brother-in-law while my parents are out of town in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee conducting businesses.

Last night was the last Romans II session.  It was a great night with more wonderful discussion.  A few highlights.  We talked about Paul’s ability to be confidant and humble at the same time.  He knew who he was in God, thus giving him confidence.  But simultaneously knowing his power came from God, thus keeping himself humble.  Another issue was the possibility of female Apostles based upon the Greek text of chapter 16.  A third was the proper role and robbery of same-sex; Godly affection within the body of Christ do to what I believe is a knee jerk overreaction the overwhelming acceptance of homosexual and lesbianism that exist within the overarching secular culture.  Forth, Paul also thanked those where reasonable for making his ministry a reality.  To that end I want to thank all of those who made this course a success with your attendance and participation.

I also want to thank Bishop Gary Trenum for giving me the privilege of serving God by serving the saints at Victory Christian Church.  Thank you, Dave Haworth for faithfully serving as my means of transportation week after week.  Thank you pastor John Gale for being my technology assistant week after week.  Thank you Daron Holland for being my technology assistant whenever called upon.  Thank you pastor Rom Harshey for filling in for me the week I was evangelizing in Birmingham.

And the work of the Kingdom of God goes on.

Until next time…

Romans II Week 7 13:1 – 15:3

Mar 11th, 2010

Good evening world and Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc. family.

Let me first apologize to those in the IPOP (In Pursuit Of Purpose) class then the other followers of this log for this entry being one week late.  Also I want to thank Pastor Ron for filling for me  and teaching chapter 12 while I was in Birmingham

Before I reflect on last weeks dialogue during the season, I asked those in the IPOP season to pray about God blessing Victory Christian Church’s finances and reflect with me on what the Holy Spirit has showed them, of course sharing only those things that can be shared publicly because this blog’s contents can be viewed worldwide.  The goal is to simply hear what the Holy Spirit is saying so that we can obey Him and be blessed beyond what we can currently envision but will be able to because of His divine enablement

I have to be honest, I did not pray about it this week until doing the entry this morning.  I cannot say the Lord spoke anything specific, but I believe that a principle I learned from Dave Ramsey comes to mind and that is “focus”.  I pray that God would give us focus on tangible goals and we would have a bulldog mentality in meeting he goals He gives us.

In last week’s session, we covered a lot of ground (13:1-15:3).  The general topics that emerge from the text and the resulting discussion were two-fold.  First, the admonition to obey the civil authorities and second to be as self-aware as possible and not do any action that would knowingly offend a fallow believer.

Thanks so much for the lively discussion during the session and the wonderful feedback I received this week through my Facebook account.  There was a true ebon flow to the discussion which causes my teaching experience to be tremendously enjoyable.

A spontaneous question that arose from the discussion that I want your feedback on is as fallows:  “Is the civic law the law unless the law is `enforced`” I have a view but I want to see what other views are prior to being forthcoming with my own.

Thanks supporters Of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc. for making this ministry possible.

Until Next Time….

Birmingham Alabama Area (Big Valley Church of God) Continued…

Mar 1st, 2010

Hello friends and supporters of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc.

I am writing to update you on the second half of my trip to Birmingham, Alabama.  This entry is starting from the living room of my sister Bobbi’s house which is on the same road as my home in Ohio and ending it in my bedroom.

In the last Birmingham, Alabama entry I left off on Tuesday night so for this entry I pick up on Wednesday night (2/24/2010).  Wednesday night was the second and final service I was privileged to minister at the Big Valley Church of God on the trip.  I ministered on what theologians call Spirit Christology (or the more proper theological term is Pneumatological Christology).  This concept looks at Jesus Christ relationship to the Holy Spirit.  The basic idea is that if Jesus Christ had to depend on the Holy Spirit, how much more we should have to do the same.  As the sermon ended Pastor Nathan Glenn asked the congregation to come forward and lay hands on me and ask the Lord to heal me.  As they did I felt heat/fire come upon my toes.  Not my legs, feet, but my toes and the heat/fire remained until well after the service and did not leave until letter that night.  I told Pastor Glenn this was happening as we went from the church to the parsonage and he said the “Lord may be healing you”.  As I right this it has not happened yet, but as I told Rachael Pastor Nathan’s wife “God is doing something” Do I know what that was, no, but I can tell you most assuredly He is/was doing something because “God does not waist His presence” It could simply be to show me that He is at work and I may never know on/in what.  Only God knows and I am open to whatever He chooses to reveal to me.  Praise God for His presence.

After I was prayed for, a sister in the church begins to worship God while simultaneously doing spiritual warfare on the devil.  As she did so, the Holy Spirit begin to move and persons come forward for prayer and a/the alter service begin.

Although I cannot remember all that God did I will make mention of what I can recall.  Concerning one lady the Lord gave me a vision of a group of children running around her.  They were not being disorderly but they we very excited.  I wanted to say teenagers but the Lord would not release me, so I said preteen.  She needed to know that she was going to sow into their lives.  I asked her if any of this bared witness with her spirit and she said yes.  I told her my struggle with the ages and not been released to say teenagers and she said that is because the group she ministers to are ages seven to nine.  She told me she wanted to know if she was on the right track.  God was so faithful to answer her request.

God also gave me a vision for a second lady I prayed for.  I saw her hands folded in a praying posture but sticking straight outward.  They were going through 3 or 4 doors of a medieval era castle.  The hands symbolized the fact that she was praying but the hands sticking outward symbolized the fact that she was doing physical warfare as well.  But as she did the door come open and at the end was able to lift her hands in the air in a worship posture.

I as well as others ministered to others in the service.  To God be the glory for what he did the service.

On Thursday (2/25/2010) I sent the day watching the “dog & pony show” otherwise know as the bipartisan health care summit on TV.  They needed to get a sheet of paper and write usual legislation instead of using it as time to simply restate the same talking points.  It was a futile attempt for President Obama to say that he fulfilled his “having the negotiations on C-span” promise.  The promise was the whole process and not a staged campaign non-debate, debate

On Friday night (2/26/2010) I attended the ladies meeting at Big Valley Church of God.  Yes, I said the ladies meeting.  Pastor Nathan was having a meeting at the parsonage and so I went to the ladies meeting Rachael was leading.  She did a wonderful job.  At the end of the meeting, one of the ladies in the church, “Moma Mary” was talking about making bisects and I said how much I loved them.  She said what time do you leave tomorrow?  I told her and she said she to would have bisects for me before I left and that she did.  They were great and I want to say a big THANK YOU to “Moma Mary”

Saturday (2/27/2010) was departure day from Birmingham.  On the Birmingham to Atlanta leg, I set next to the executive director of what she called the “Jewish version of campus crusade for Christ”.  The organization works with college campuses to see the Jewish students have a place to congregate.  What a wonderful conversation that we both had and she said to my surprise that Christians are close to outgiving Jews in their support for Israel.  The flight from Atlanta to Dayton was not very eventful with the exceptions of the few minutes of talking to the guy sitting next to me and learning that the two ladies seating on the other side of my row were Christians from the Dayton area.

One interesting side note is it is a custom of mine to ask flight attendances what their favorite city they have been to is.  For at least the second time, a flight attendant answered the question by saying “Little Rock, Arkansas” I look forward to the day I can go there and minister and see for myself

I want to say a big thank you to Pastor Nathan and his wonderful wife Rachael for there first class hospitality toward me, the church’s generous love offering and the wonderful cash gifts given on Wednesday night, also thank you sister Maria Duncan for doing my laundry on Thursday.

Thank you for your prayer and financial support of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc. It is your continual prayers and financial support that make this ministry possible past, present, & future

Until Next Time…

Birmingham Alabama Area (Big Valley Church of God)

Feb 23rd, 2010

Hello world & friends of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc.

Today’s blog entry comes from the living room of the parsonage of the Big Valley Church of God.  Not only was Sunday night an amazing service but the flight to here on Friday was amazing.  First of all, I want to say a big thank you to Lisa Crosley for her Facebook message I read on Sunday afternoon regarding her prompting of the Holy Spirit to pray for me on 4 PM on Friday afternoon.  This was the time that I was close to or actually arriving at the Dayton International Airport to fly to Birmingham International Airport.  Praise God and thank you Lisa.

To call the flight fun is an understatement.  I set in the aisle of the bulkhead.  Setting next to me in the middle seat was Barbara and in the window seat was Samantha.  Both were Christians and avid travelers.  We spent time talking about, church experiences, my ministry and certain preachers that we liked.  But most enjoyable to me was the time we spent talking about how much we enjoyed our private worship time with the Lord.  I think the three of us will meet again down the road again soon, thank you Lord for the pillage of meeting them.

Upon arriving at the Atlanta International Airport, I meat a wonderful person assigned by the airport to assist me, he was a Christian originally from Ethiopia.  He was absolutely on fire for God and was excited to find out I was as he said. “a minister of God”  God does the most amazing job taking care of me as I travel and minister the gospel.  I meat the most interesting people during my ministry travels who are outside of the direct ministry context.  As you continue to read future entries this theme will continue to emerge.  Serving God has perks that only those who minister and travel with me will get to see.  Pray and see how the Lord may lead you to travel with me around the world in the future.

I preached the Sunday evening service (2/21/2010) at Big Valley Church of God which started at the unusually time of 5:30 PM.  I ministered on the parable of the unjust judge from Luke 18.  The Lord placed that passage to my heart while I was seeking His face earlier in the afternoon.  While delivering the sermon the Holy Spirit took me to a cross reference story which was the narrative of the book of Ruth.  What does Ruth have to do with Luke 18 while the only thing I can say is you just had to be there.  Those of you that are preachers know exactly what I am talking about.  During the morning service at Big Valley the Lord began to show me that we were going to have a tremendous alter service on Sunday night and that we did.

Although Big Valley is a small church, it seemed that everyone in the service came forward for prayer and the gifts of the Holy Spirit begin to flow.  There were visions, words of wisdom, prophesy, healing, and the interpretation of spiritual dreams.

As a humorous side note, at the beginning of the service Pastor Glen made the announcement that I was “single and looking” to which on the oldest members of the church yelled out “how old” and I responded “I will tell you after service” What an honor that someone would ask the question and consider Introducing someone they know.

Yesterday (2/22/2010) one of families from the church come to the house and brought dinner to us, we laughed so much and played “phase ten”.  I look forward to the rest of the trip to see what God has in store.

Until Next Time…

Romans II week 3 chapter 11

Feb 18th, 2010

Happy Thursday friends of Jason Brothers Ministries International Inc.

Last night was Romans II week 3 chapter 11 at Victory Christian Church.  When looking at the date of this entry you may wonder why a week is missing since the Romans II study is a weekly study.  The reason for the missing week is because of a cancellation of the study due to the severe weather in the southern Ohio area.  As you likely know a large majority of the country has been dealing with severe snow storms.  In Fact, this month of February 2010 will go on record as having the most snow fall for the month of February since 1910 for the Cincinnati area.

Here is a summery of some of the points the Holy Spirit displayed to us as well as a few reflections upon those points.  We spent some time dealing with the hardening of the hart issue.  The two examples we referred to are the blindness of the Israelite s for the purpose of the redemption of the Gentiles (Rom 11) as well as a cross reference to the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart in the Exodus narrative.  In God’s sovereignty He uses who he wills to accomplish His purposes while simultaneously allowing our free will to be exercised.  A point made by someone in the class that really crystallizes the point.  Educationally, we have inherited a Greek mind set that says all ideas must fit on a box.  Conversely, a Hebrew mindset allows two mutually exclusive ideas to coexist simultaneously.  A second point is the presence of mighty conviction of the Holy Spirit regarding our responsibility to let our lights shine to those of Jewish origin that we come in contact with.  A third was seeing the biblical text for what it actually says as opposed to the “nice” lens that we sometimes wear using Psalms 137 as the backdrop for the point.

I believe it was some of the greatest dialogue that we have ever had since I started teach IPOP (In Pursuit of Purpose) classes at Victory Christian Church.  Thank you Jesus, Bishop Gary, and Victory Christian Church for the opportunity to serve at the church.

Until Next Time…
